homeschooling topics and summaries Terrie can speak onTopics I have or can speak on:
Homeschooling One Child: It's a lot different to homeschool one child versus many children. In this session, Terrie McKee will give homeschoolers of one child tips and tricks, covering the joys and jungles of being the teacher, parent, and classmate to their child. Homeschooling Teens with Autism: Teens with autism are filled with hormones just like typically developing teens, but they often don't understand what's going on. This presents special challenges in homeschooling them. In this session, mom of four special needs children Terrie McKee will cover some ideas on homeschooling teens with autism, including guardianship. Hope for the Overwhelmed Homeschool Parent: Sometimes homeschool can be a bit much and overwhelm sets in. And this is not the kids - it's the parents! In this session, Terrie McKee will use humor and grace to encourage and inspire homeschooling parents who are teetering on the edge. What's the Big Deal about Socialization? Ah, the "S" word. Socialization is often one of the road bumps in the homeschooling journey. In this session, participants will learn how to search for organizations, sports teams, and other activities for your child to encourage them to make friends. The importance of healthy friendships will also be discussed as well as things you can do as a parent to help your child succeed socially. Planning a Homeschool Year for One Child: In this session, participants will learn how to use their own curriculum to plan the homeschool year for their child, incorporating field trips, chore days, sick days (for parent and child!). Terrie McKee of Homeschooling1Child.com will also teach parents how to back up and punt when things don't go according to plan. Life Skills, Chickens, and More: In this session, Terrie McKee of Homeschooling1Child.com will dive into the importance of chores, pet responsibilities, encouraging entrepreneurship, and life skills as they relate to homeschool and life. |
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God." ~ 2nd Corinthians 1:3-4
The Lord has given me a rich and varied testimony in which to bring Him glory. I have shared aspects of this testimony, based on the audience, at faith-based Christian retreats, youth events, to congregations as a guest speaker, to pastors' wives, and all over the world through my blog. Some topics the Lord has blessed me to share, in a biblical, God-honoring and glorifying way, are the following: > God's Presence, Power and Provision in Trauma > Living a Life that Points People to Christ > King Jesus: Conquering Fear, Building Faith > Discipleship despite difficulties > Losing parents to cancer > Parenting special needs children (especially children/youth/young adults with autism) > Domestic violence > Second marriages > Blended families Homeschooling topics: > Special Needs > Autism > Teaching the Christian Faith to Children with Special Needs > Homeschooling a Singleton > Homeschooling a Student with Autism > Building Schedules for Autistic Students > Autism and Adult Children > Homeschooling After Trauma > Battling the Overwhelm and more! I would share the testimony God has given me, to bless you and to share what He has done. I speak at churches, homeschool conventions, conferences, faith-based organizations, youth groups, women's ministries, Christian retreats, or ministry staff retreats.
